2026 Mission Speaker

Marc “Silvy” Silverman

ESPN Chicago

Known to Chicago sports fans as a longtime voice on ESPN Chicago Radio, Marc Silverman – “Silvy” – brings authenticity and resilience both on and off the air. In 2020, he shared with listeners that he had been diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, opening up about his treatment and the emotional realities of facing cancer. His honesty sparked an outpouring of support and highlighted the power of community, and today, in remission, he continues to inspire others through his story. As our 2026 Mission Speaker, Silvy will share a powerful message of perseverance, gratitude, and hope.

About

Learn More

The Windy City Golf Classic is the longest-running Chicagoland golf event benefiting the American Cancer Society.

In 1981, William T. White, Jr. founded the outing as a community golf tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society. Following his passing from leukemia in 1993, the event was renamed in his honor. Today, it continues as the Windy City Golf Classic, dedicated to supporting those battling cancer and remembering those who have lost their fight.

Our Mission

Mission Funding: ACS General

As the only organization combating cancer through advocacy, discovery, and patient support, the American Cancer Society has made significant contributions to the fight against cancer over the last 110 years. We advocate for lifesaving policy changes, promote healthy lifestyles to help prevent cancer, and provide information, answers, and support to people in every community who have been touched by cancer. We also research cancer and its causes to find more answers and better treatment.

Yet, there is still work to be done – which is why we are so glad you have joined us tonight! The American Cancer Society continues to work tirelessly to fund research and provide support for all types of cancer. And thanks to your generous support, we work to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

Every cancer. Every life.
